☯️ • प्रतिबिंब / Pratibimb = Reflection; Reflecting..
Designed this four weight logotype when I was teaching identity design at DJAD in January 2019, for college activity group.
The name was suggested by one of the visiting faculty Rakesh Kataria for film club in around 2008 when I myself was a student but for some reason it was never picked up. This name and the meaning somehow stayed with me and I realised it can be applied to many more activities; films, sound sessions, book reading, show and tell sessions etc.
When eventually in January 2019 I went to teach identity design, two students from the class, Aishwarya and Mrunal came and told me that they want to have some sort of frequent student gathering where they could share and talk about things. After a little discussion we realised different activities could happen in that gathering and they wanted some help in setting up something. That’s when I recalled the name Pratibimb. The purpose of the gathering was not to just share things but it was also to have discussions and to listen to different point of views, reflecting back to what we experience in each session, hence Pratibimb.
Any point of view about anything involves as much of us as the topic or the context that we have our opinions about hence keeping in mind the duality the integration of Yin and Yang.
Logo needed to have subtle characteristics and also stay neutral since there were quite a few different activities going to be happening under the same umbrella but common thread between all of them was reflecting.
Pratibimb is an initiative by Aishwarya and Mrunal. This well composed poster of the very first Pratibimb session was also designed by them.
